Tea of the Week: Misty Ridge Tea

misty-ridge-tea

Another great winner for winter in Stanthorpe. Misty Ridge Tea is a beautiful blend containing peppermint and elderflower which are known to aid in the relief of fever and the symptoms associated with colds and flu. This is a delicious combination of herbs to be enjoyed curled up in front of a warm fire.

Peppermint

Pepermint is a hybrid cross between watermint and spearmint. The leaves from the peppermint plat are naturally caffeine free and contain a large quantity of menthol. It’s regarded as helpful for digestion, colds and flu, sinusitis, dry cough, fever and nausea. On top of that it adds greatly to the flavour of the blend.

Elderflower

Elder flowers, also called European elder, have a long history of use in traditional German medicine. They have antioxidant properties and an antiviral effect, which is why they're still popularly used to help fight off colds and flu.

Rosehips

A rose hip is the fruit of a rose. Dried rosehip shells used in tea are caffeine free and are particularly high in Vitamin C (they contain 50% more vitamin C than oranges). They also contain Vitamins A, D and E, iron as well as essential fatty acids and antioxidant flavonoids. Research in Denmark and Germany using a rose hip remedy found it was actually very beneficial in treating rheumatoid arthritis. So don’t just smell the roses, try them in your tea as well.

Lemon Myrtle

Lemon myrtle is a flowering plant native to the subtropical rainforests of southeast Queensland, Australia. According to the "Encyclopaedia of Natural Medicine," lemon myrtle can help treat sinus infections, bronchitis, fatigue, depression, common cold, influenza, raw throat and indigestion. Another flavour enhancer

Hibiscus Flowers

Originally from Angola, hibiscus in tea form is widely used as a health drink particularly as an aid to support heart health and for cholesterol and blood pressure maintenance. Scientific interest in hibiscus has grown in the last several years, thanks to a number of published research studies which suggests that hibiscus tea or hibiscus extract may offer antioxidant effects and enhance cardiovascular health.

A must try blend from our collection of organic herbal teas.
